The world of licenses can be tough to navigate in this day and age. Companies are getting more and more creative when it comes to the ways they use their intellectual property. This has led to some new challenges for hackers, modders, and pirates alike. Consequently, it's become even harder for the average person to figure out whether they're breaking or abiding by software licenses with things like DRM or e-signatures. Chris Smith reviewed the game for 1UP.com, praising its content, but criticizing its lack of challenging old-school gameplay, and the game's reliance on cheating to achieve any victory other than that of simply clearing the game's "to do" list. Peterson scored it 87% overall. "Covert Ops" has been praised for featuring great graphics and animation along with very few glitches. The inclusion of modern weapons also gives the feeling of realism for players who are interested in real world tactics used by intelligence agents. "Compute!" (1981): 7 out of 15 (Golden Joystick Award winner) Covert Operations is short, but it packs a punch. The game's graphics are excellent, but the game's weirdest feature is its in-game music - which you can choose to play or not. The game also displays a screen that tells you how much time remains before your mission is complete, but it doesn't work properly. You can fix this by pressing Ctrl + G at the menu screen and entering 5230 into the password box. The password will get you past the plotless opening sequence, but there's no way to exit this section except for quitting the game and starting again. -Scott F. Johnson The game was reviewed in 1983 by "Video" magazine in its "Arcade Alley" column, where it was described as an unusually realistic game of the espionage genre, with graphics that were considered exceptional for an arcade game at the time. The reviewers gave the game an overall score of 8 out of 10. Murray, J. (2016). "Guide to Computer Game Boxes - From Pong to Playstation". McFarland & Co Inc Publishers. , .
